<Elite Development Hockey School (14-16 years)>

Welcome to Westlake Hockey Development’s 4th annual elite summer development school. At WHD it is our goal to provide you with the tools for success. We prepare you for a crucial period in your career by formatting precise training regiments for you to follow during summer preparation and throughout your season. Our program combines methods to gain strength (mental & physical), speed and great health, allowing you to develop into the complete hockey player.

Through the guidance of our professional coaches you will be evaluated and provided with a program tailored to your specific needs. You will be guided by hockey specific performance trainers (on and off the ice), power skating instructors, a rehabilitation specialist, a sports psychologist and a health and wellness consultant. Our professional staff work with and instruct some of the world’s top athletes and professional hockey players. • <Elite Development Hockey School (11-13 years)>

    All new for the 2008 summer, WHD expands into the 11-13 year old category for boys and girls. The importance of learning proper on-ice techniques is the most fundamental learning curve for players of this age. From the simplest things as your stride, to making a pass tape-to-tape, learning and honing these basic skills are crucial to your development in the later stages of your career. Taking care of your body must be a focus in becoming the best player you can be. Knowing what is right for your body and training such things as physical balance at such an important developmental age, can lead you to reaching incredible levels.

    Throughout the duration of the hockey school the players will have the opportunity of learning from many professional players, as well as meet with many of our off-ice specialists. The object is to begin the shaping process and guide you into being ready for Bantam AA, Midget Espoir, Midget AAA and the opportunity to attend a Prep School.

  • A Little About Westlake Hockey...

    Founded in 2005, Westlake Hockey Development Inc. (WHD) set out to offer something new, different and true to form. Growing up Carl Michaelson & Matthew Lombardi both attended numerous summer hockey schools, but both felt there was something missing – a personalized approach focusing on the little things. Westlake’s mission is to offer the tools necessary for success, shaping and guiding players towards their ultimate goals.

    In today’s top professional levels the younger players are dominating the game due to the changes made through their preparation and development years. Beginning at a young age, these players understood that proper exercise programs and nutrition make all the different when trying to achieve their personal best. They focused on the smaller details that would help propel them above their competitors, honing their body into the ultimate competing machine.

    Matthew Lombardi is an example of a player who has followed these steps, focusing on the components and details that are at the forefront of the Westlake concept. Now, all aspiring players can have this opportunity!

    Entering its fourth season, WHD has already, and continues to, guide some great players to reaching their goals. These players have committed to the Westlake ideals of training The Mind, The Body & The Skills, and all of the small details that surround these focal points, which today are the necessities in becoming the complete hockey player.
